And isn’t it wonderful to see that “Made in America” on the name tag?  We need to be seeing more of those.

What is a Seasodie?  Perhaps, the cutest fish on the planet!  They are made from recycled plastic bottles although they look like blown glass!  The quality is amazing!

“Sugar Mice” by Kelly Lynn Smith a Parody of Rose Fyleman’s “I Think Mice Are Rather Nice”

Home Made Fondant

3/4 stick (6 tbsp) butter
1/4 cup light corn syrup (Karo)
1 tsp white vanilla extract
3 cups confectioners’ sugar

Combine all ingredients and roll into a ball.   Extra Fondant may be stored in the refrigerator.

Sugar Mice Recipe

7/8  cup of above fondant

1 tsp. water

pink food colouring

Melt above ingredients in a saucepan.  Bring to almost a boil.  Spoon the mixture into the sugar mouse molds.  Let set up (approximately 30 minutes) and pop out of the mold. Molds may be purchased at:  http://www.siliconemoulds.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9601892

It inspired me to design this crochet pattern for Lumpy the Lumpfish~

Looks like more than the nail tech works in there to me.

Chemotherapy cost Reenie her wings and and her hair but not her dreams. Being inventive (like most fairies); she made herself a fairy cap with an attached wig to replace her missing hair. Even without her head covering, she can still work her special magic and bring a smile to many faces.

She is large enough (16″ seated) to be hugged and can sit nicely on a patient’s lap, table or bed. Her cloth body can be signed by well-wishers. Many patients take their doll along to Chemo sessions.

Reenie was designed for a friend of mine going through chemotherapy. The pattern was originally released in hard copy on September 27, 1999. Reenie was featured in Doll World Profiles in Caring. In 1999 Reenie was listed under resources for the National Brain Tumor Foundation and traveled to the Children’s Hospice International conference in Vienna, Austria. She has also traveled as a goodwill ambassador with Geshundheit. Completed dolls are not available for purchase but have been donated to various oncology departments around the country and as far away as Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, England.

Reenie has jointed arms/legs and wired fingers which may be moved and posed. The 2012 updated Reenie has applied artificial fingernails. Various ethnic faces are included in the pattern. Reenie is limited only by your imagination and may be further embellished with glitters, rhinestones, etc.
